Releasing Dark and Demonic Entities - Part 1 by David Furlong

One of the most challenging types of case that a spirit release therapist might have to tackle is releasing dark or demonic entities. The two-part article explores the background to these cases and methodology that might be used for their release.

Background
In my book Illuminating the Shadow, I explore some of the myths surrounding dark or demonic forces, which have been recounted in many diverse mythological and religious belief systems. These malign shadow entities would appear to have been with us for since the earliest recorded writings. For example, in Ancient Egyptian mythology, dating back nearly five thousand years, one of their primary gods Seth was said to embody all that was malign and evil. Many spells were used to try to counter his influence and the forces that worked under him. In more recent times, channelled sources suggest that in the distant past a highly evolved spirit was caught up and influenced by a wave of negative energy that swept through this solar system causing this spirit to set himself up as his own divinity thereby rejecting all of the positive benign energies that stemmed from the Supreme Creator. In making this move this entity, known in Christian terms as the archangel Lucifer, took with him a hierarchy of other beings that felt allegiance to him. Such spirits, in order to go on growing and expanding in power need other souls to be drawn into this web with planet Earth proving to be a fertile hunting ground.

Dark souls and Demonic Entities
From the perspective of the SR practitioner, dark beings or dark force entities fall into two broad categories. The first are those entities that were part of Lucifer’s original entourage, which predominantly stem from the angelic realms. These are the classic demonic entities, which have never incarnated as human souls and been graphically depicted in Medieval paintings. The second group are those recruited human souls that have been subverted and trapped by the shadow. The remit of all these beings is to recruit more to their cause and to try to generate as much fear and hatred as they can, for these energies can be drawn upon by Lucifer to continue to proliferate his influence. These dark entities therefore try to create conflict and strife wherever possible for this is how they derive their sustenance.

Individuals can be caught in this malign net in a variety of ways and how they have been trapped or influenced will generally determine how easy or difficult it might be to remove a dark entity. In my working experience as a therapist, unlike lost souls that have become ‘earthbound’ and can easily be helped to move on, dark beings will put up a lot of resistance and do everything in their power to retain their hold over their host. In this approach they have a very good incentive for they know that they will be punished if they fail. The shadow is unforgiving and ensnared dark souls can be subjected to much torment, which they, in turn, will often try to inflict upon the hapless individual they have ensnared.

There are therefore degrees of ensnarement that the therapist might encounter, some which stem from the current life and others from earlier lives. Souls that are susceptible to this influence will, almost inevitably, have been caught up in some trauma, which would have provided the gateway for the malign entity to gain a foothold. Deceit and trickery are also part of the weapons of these dark beings and they will do everything in their power to try to keep and individual ensnared. One might therefore suppose that their removal might seem a hopeless task, however, we all have potential recourse to our own limitless source of power through our ‘Higher-Self’, which can draw upon all of the support from the benign ‘light’ of the spirit world. Therefore, the first step in the therapeutic process is to help the client access their own ‘Higher-Self’ for support. This might take several sessions because the entity will try to do everything to block the connection. However, once the connection has been made steps can then be taken to clear the different parts of the psyche that have been infected. In some cases, these can be numerous, with multiple sub-personality elements from both the past and current life. Such individuals can also be caught up in a great deal of fear and a resistance to look at those dark aspects of their being that have kept them trapped. Dealing with such clients therefore demands a great deal of patience and persistence. In my experience those that are willing to stay the course can all be helped with all malign influences being removed from their psyches. However, this might take several years of therapy because there is often no quick fix solution. My rule of thumb in such cases is to look at the history of the client. If they have experienced or displayed a lot of trauma in childhood, then it is quite likely that they are going to need a lot of support and help to clear any malign influence. Souls that have been entangled with the shadow in past lives will often enter the current life being malignly influenced.

The House Metaphor
The best analogy I have for describing these nuances is to consider our physical body to be a house, where our soul and primary ‘ego’ self are the husband and wife occupants. The children in the house are our sub-personalities and the land-lord of the property our ‘Higher-Self’. If a dark being has taken up residence in the garden, then they can be fairly easily ejected. Once inside the house the problem becomes trickier because the point of entry needs to be determined, particularly if they have been invited in by one of the traumatised sub-personalities. If just one sub-personality is involved, then providing that part can be healed the entity can be shown the door. However, if many sub-personalities or even the soul itself has been infected then the process will take much longer. Finally, it should be remembered that all repressed emotional energies become a potential gateway for possession. We need to learn to love and forgive ourselves and face up to that which keeps us stuck.
